The Art and Science of Preparing a Home for Sale

If selling your home in the shortest amount of time and for the most money is your goal – stage it! The goal of staging is to make the home speak to potential buyers in a compelling and positive way by transforming your home into a place that buyers can easily picture as their home. In today’s competitive market, first impressions are everything. Without furniture, a home can seem uninviting or make it difficult for buyers to see possible layouts, gauge scale, and be inspired to take the next step.

Most home listing are available to view online which is where the majority of buyers begin their search. The listing photos will either pique the buyers’ interest or knock the home out of contention. As photos are often the first glimpse potential buyers get of your home, you naturally want to make sure they look as great as they can. A non-staged home can often present worse in photos than a professionally staged one. According to the Real Estate Staging Association, homes which are staged before going on the market, sell 73% faster than their non-staged counterparts.
